TONY
JACKSON
Tony (born in England in 1945) studied painting at
Bath Academy of Art (1963-66). He then worked as an Art
Teacher in secondary schools for 30 years, and was the Director of
Expressive Arts at the Cavendish School in Hemel Hempstead.
He took early retirement in 1996 to concentrate on his
painting, and the development of Adult Education classes in general
Art and Design, Landscape and Portrait drawing. He gives many
demonstrations and workshops in the use of acrylics and pastels to
Art Societies.
Since 1996 he and his wife Jackie have got
very involved in a charity, The Institute for Indian Mother and
Child, working near Calcutta, India. His regular visits have led to
him making many studies and taking numerous photographs which
are the basis of much of his current work.
His landscapes,
still life and studies of life in India are mainly in acrylics on
board, canvas or watercolour paper, often done on a coloured ground
of burnt umber or yellow ochre, and using a restricted palette of
primary colours and white. The aim is to achieve balance and harmony
throughout the various parts of the design. Much of his work is on
his personal website at http://get.to/tjackson
