Merlyn Chesterman

I am a painter and printmaker and I work from my studio in Hartland, Devon, where I run printmaking courses and teach children excluded from school.

I lived overseas for 25 years, in Hong Kong, Thailand, and the U.S., travelling to Bhutan, China and Kashmir to paint. My work can be found in the Hong Kong Museum of Art and galleries in London and the South West.

I trained in Fine Art at Bath Academy, Corsham, and in printmaking at West Dean College, Chichester, where I now teach short courses.

I first became excited by wood cuts in China on the Mongolian border, where they were used in place of glass in the windows and replaced each year.
