Mary Kenny BA PGCE
Mary was born in Birmingham, studied
Sulpture at Bath Academy of Art, and subsequently worked for eight years in the
Stone Carving and Restoration trade, whilst exhibiting her Stone Sculptures in
Britain and abroad.
In 1986 and 1987 she was invited to work at the
International Stone Sculpture Symposium, Baranyai Alkototelepek in Hungary,
there producing a monumental Site Specific work comprising around 66 tons of
stone.
Since 1989, Mary has regularly worked as a freelance artist for
"Chalkworks" in Edinburgh, on numerous projects in the field of Public
Art and the Heritage Industry; including modelling heads, figures, and
Historical Replicas for Museums, Visitor Centres and Castles throughout the
UK.
From 1990-91, Mary was an Artist in Residence in Midlothian.
She has
recently completed seven large Site Specific Bas-Relief carvings, commissioned
by the Tweed Interpretation Project.
