John Hoskin
[1921-92] trained as an architectural draughtsman, before starting to
paint and sculpt in 1951. Following in the footsteps of Kenneth Armitage
he became Head of Sculpture at the Bath Academy of Art, Corsham in 1957.
Most of his sculptures are unique and constructed out of welded mild
steel. His one-man shows included Grosvenor Gallery and Matthieson
Gallery, London. A retrospective exhibition was held at the Serpentine
Gallery, London in 1975. John Hoskin work is included in several public
collections including the Tate Gallery [London]. |
