| John Hammond was born in Woodford Green, England in 1961.
He graduated from Bath Academy of Art aged 22. Although early in his career he concentrated on watercolour painting, he has now taken the medium of acrylic and made it his own. Exploiting the control he has over its drying time allows him to build up a picture surface made up of the most subtle of glazes. Grounded on strong draughtsmanship, Hammond’s works have a strength and structure, but are primarily painterly celebrations of luminosity and colour. His work has been featured in a number of publications over the years and is keenly collected. He has exhibited throughout the UK including shows at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts, having been awarded a prize in their inaugural Open exhibition. |
