Hilary Shand trained in in Fine Art at Bath Academy of Art and has studied mosaic techniques in Ravenna, Italy.
The mosaics are either made of cut natural stones and refer back to historic motifs and patterns or of vitreous glass. The glass mosaics are worked from observatrion of flowers and they extend mosaic practice into a fluid form of drawing.
Uses include Paving Pieces & Fragments in Gravel/Water Features, the centre of circular paved areas, decorative plaques, garden stepping stones, and Tables.
