Caroline Barnett was born in
London and in 1956 she attended Kingston School of Art to study Fine
Art: anatomy, sculpture, pottery, drawing and painting. From there
she went on to Bath Academy of Art, part of the university, to do
sculpture, painting and lithography. After this she gained work in
the design department of the Royal Court Theatre, during the time of
its headlining popularity. She then moved to beautiful St Ives in
1961 with her husband Leslie , where they started a pottery named
"Troika". Caroline designed most of the pots and the
decorations. Later, alone with a child to support, for years she
did portraits in various galleries in St Ives in pencil and
pastels. In 1985 she showed her work and did portraits at Customs
House Gallery St Ives as curator and in 1987 she began to work from
home and outside, doing portraits, flowers and views. She showed at
Emanuels Gallery, Salthouse Gallery and Leon Suddaby's. In 1995
she married Tony and enjoys painting 'for herself' with less
pressure!! Working in all mediums she does flowers, local scenes and
portraits, and recently some colourful designs including angels,
people and Jerusalem. She also writes Poetry and designs inventions
and paints in her studio and outside in the summer. If you would
